World Soy Foundation And NSRL Complete Mission To Central America
February 5, 2009...Source: ASA Leader Letter...Executive Director of the American Soybean Association’s World Soy Foundation (WSF), Jim Hershey, was in Guatemala and Honduras this week to help plan the Cargill-WSF Soy Nutrition Program and parallel projects involving SoyCow equipment donated by U.S. Rotary Clubs.
Last year, Cargill awarded the WSF a $500,000, three-year grant to work with organizations in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua to distribute donated soy, educate recipients about nutrition and hygiene, and evaluate the nutritional impact of select projects.
Hershey traveled with Bridget Owen, Assistant Director of the University of Illinois’ National Soybean Research Laboratory (NSRL), which will implement the program. Thousands of Central American children will benefit from better nutrition, thanks to the Cargill grant to WSF.
